Le Metier de Beaute Empress Lip Kaleidoscope +

var _gaq = _gaq || [];

So as I am finally on one of my few days off…I get to present to you the Le Metier de Beaute Fall 2011 lip kaleidoscope. There wasn’t much info out there, but as I got to see it, I took pictures 🙂
Colors: The top shade is Imperial Silk which a super soft pale warm pink. Then we have my favorite shade (surprise, surprise) is  Silk Road, which is an opaque vibrant red (finally, a pretty red for fall). Then we have Empress, which is a soft a delicate mauve mixed with some champagne. It’s a soft delicate color on it’s own and I actually like it by itself…oddly enough. Then we have Plum Satin, which is a deep cool plum. The shades mixed together is this beautiful rosy plum. It’s sooooooooooo pretty. PRETTY. Even 3 random people on the street complimented on my lip color.
Texture/formula: So this is definitely more in line with the standard Lip Kaleidoscope, very full on pigmented shades of color. I’m sure there are people that are wondering how it compares to Écumes D’or: Écumes D’or shades were a lot softer in color, and the texture is definitely more jelly like in formula. This kaleidoscope is more like their previous ones such as Red Rapture. I like the formula because you can smack your lips together and it’s not a dry formula that accentuates lip lines or makes your lips dry. The best I can compare this to are NARS lip lacquers, but even then they’re not that similar.
Longevity: They adhere to the lips so well that I managed to get about 5 hours of wear, but uhm…let’s just say it was removed from someone else (hee hee hee), so I couldn’t get to find out if it lasted longer.

This item is definitely my winner from the fall collection 🙂 ❤ it’s so delicious.

ONTO THE PHOTOS !!

The shades mixed together, assuming all equal parts of the 4 shades. 🙂 The color is a teeeeeny more rosy in real ife. The color is dead on accurate on my lips (of course a touch more rosy).

Le Metier de Beaute Silk Road Eye Kaleidoscope

var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-22605383-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();

So I got to play with the new Silk Road Eye Kaleidoscope coming out this fall…and needless to say, it’s nice to see rich, warm burgundy, purples, and golds. Not exactly my cup of tea in terms of colors because I hate how I look in purples. But, it’s awesome to see what neat colors that are going to be the trend this upcoming season. I’ll have to play with it some more when I have the time to really sit down and play. If this wins me over, then well…call me smitten 🙂

*Tapestry is this gorgeous, soft shimmery warm purple. definitely a color that most people will like.
*Damask is a super warm gold, I totally need to go back to compare it to nutmeg. (will update with this info later).
*Ikat is a rich burgundy. I’m tempted to see how this looks with some magic lustre creme to use it as a lipcolor. I want a lipcolor in this family…so rich and pretty. This one may be a learning curve color for me for my eyes.
*Brocade: is a dark chocolate with burgundy mixed in. This one is so sultry because of the dark sparkles.

Le Metier de Beaute Écumes D’or Lip Kaleidoscope (Part II)

 var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-22605383-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() {   var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true;   ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’;   var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();

If you missed out…here’s Part I
Moving along, here’s Part II.

Dustin with Écumes D’or
Luckily for me, I had an awesome volunteer who is a bit darker than me in skintone so you can get an idea of how it looks layered. You know, there are questions if you’re darker than NC30+, how will it show up?

So the lovely lady had her full face on then took off her lipcolor for my review 😀

Her natural lip color. She’s probably around NC35

Dustin working his magic on her. He’s like a NC20 for comparison.

The bottom color on her lips.

The purple on top of the pink. You can kinda see the cool cast where the flash hits the lips.

the final result on her

Dustin lightly lined her lips on the edge for some definition
kaleidoscope on top of lipstick (bottom swatch for reference) no flash.

Le Metier de Beaute Écumes D’or Lip Kaleidoscope (Part I) +

var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-22605383-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();
Hi all !

Guess what I just got? 🙂

The Lip Kaleidoscope that Dustin made for this summer 🙂

Colors: The top color (Soft Dew) is a sheer warm pink. On my lips it didn’t really show up except for a subtle shimmer. Morning Light is a bright yellow in the pan and I’ll be honest, it looked freaking scary when swatched on my arm. On the lips it’s a amazing golden sheen (but not a gross sheen, but an awesome warmth to the lips). Then we have Deep Sea, which is a sheer lavender/purple. The bottom layer is Calm Phoenix which is an amazing strawberry pink. I wish Calm Phoenix was a lip creme in of itself. *sigh* I can dream.

Texture and Formula: they’re a thin, nonsticky formula. They’re slightly creamier than the other Lip Kaleidoscopes that I’ve tried (Red Rapture).  You must a lipbrush with these because a small amount is needed, because it’s pure pigment. This particular kaleidoscope lasted about 3 hours of wear with slight fading. When you rub your lips and you feel like the color has faded, actually the formula wears down to a soft stain. In my case it wears off into a soft gold stain.

Size: .49 fL oz.

Nikki (Dustin’s partner in crime) applied the colors from bottom (Calm Phoenix first) working up to the top. OMG. the effect of all the colors layered is BEAUTIFUL. it’s a soft peach with a rose mixed with a soft bronze undertone with a soft shimmer and sheen. I think it’s the soft sheen without being over the top is what makes it stand out, aside from the complexity of the colors combined together.

Onto the photos:

I did receive this kaleidoscope for reviewing purposes from the Le Metier de Beaute PR team. I just wanted to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to see it first hand. 🙂 I really do adore it because it’s subtle but it definitely has a soft sheen and it’s definitely pigmented, but not over the top. It’s a perfect warm, but not TOO warm lip combo for summer.

It will only be sold at Bergdorf Goodman, and it’s in time for their Beauty Bag event which I *think* starts Monday. You spend $200 and you’ll get a cute  black sequin bag filled with samples.

I *think* the Lip Kaleidoscope is supposed to be in this upcoming Monday, so if you’re interested, call: 212-872-8612. There will be a Part II since I’m in the middle of errands and I’m supposed to be asleep 😦 eeeek !
